Insurance

Been taking a small break from poker and studying/working my ass off to prepare for an exam which I took today. I passed! I am now licensed to sell insurance in the state of California. I plan on crushing it and making a nice living allowing poker to return as a fun pass time from which I make a decent amount of "fun time" money.

Will be payed 100% commission based so poker will be my main source for a few months to come I imagine.

I am bringing it back

Time to stop being a slack dick and actually put some fucking time in away from the tables. If you arent getting better at this game you arent getting richer. That being said I will begin cross posting some of my HH to a private blog which I will be setting up. Private because I know mofos google my ass. Hu for that. Fwiw I have played a fuck ton this month but am basically even after some fun swings. On a side note, I actually have a job interview tomorrow for selling insurance. Who knows!

It is true!

I can do anything I put my mind to. 35k hands in the books, time for a new goal. I am thinking 30hrs a week and limiting myself to 4 tables in order to improve my hand reading dramatically. Actually, that will be my main focus for June, hand reading.

The home stretch.

Played 33,373 hands with two days left. This past week I have played poorly and outside of myself which results in, well you know. Anyways a good things is I have managed to become more comfortable playing slightly longer sessions and will be looking to play 90min sessions in June. Big things going down in June.

So wack

Fuck it. I am not going to post a whiny as blog about how ass I run. We all run like dick. Work harder, whine less and own souls. If all else fails break shit. Basically I am back at 100NL for awhile and will be working harder than ever before. May has proven one thing to me. If I grind I will make money. Now I need to study and grind and play my A-game.

Swongs are a real thing.

~27k hands thus far

So it has been a steady up hill month till this week. I have begun the home stretch and been running whatever and playing about there. TBH my emotions have gotten the better of me again. I am determined to make the 35k mark but will be rethinking my approach to June. June I believe my goal will be in regards to mental game rather than volume.

Now in regards to my goals I am way off track. Surprise! I have about 25lbs to lose to reach 200lbs and an insane amount of 200NL play to reach the hand sample I wanted. Reality is shit happens and I havent given my all.

I intend to drop 10lbs in June and play 5-10k hands of 200NL at night when the games are the softest.

Hand 1: Villain is playing 51/4/3af The guy was donking every pot and just owning. Pot was always value from this guy and I saw him pot bet AT on AKxxx 3 flush riv IP after flatting flop and turn. basically he is capable of making thin value bets. Easy value shove?

22k to go

I missed a good amount of hands this week due to the HM issues and then my Bday. Am going to nail 2k hands a day this week plus get some more weekend hands in. 35k is going to happen.

In other news I am considering moving sites again but TBH AP is so fucking soft I dont have any idea how I can.

I also have become a glorified beggar through Facebook. Looking to become a millionaire by requesting people send me $1 via paypal to rickjames94952@yahoo.com. Cant hurt to ask right? If you read this and are my FB friend please become a fan of my new beggar page so that I might actually have a chance of becoming a millionaire. I mean fuck 2.6mil people are fans of "I hate cigarette".

Road block

Cereus decided to change their HH for some reason and now HM cant import any hands. This presents two problems. I cant track my hands and I have no HUD. It is kinda nice to play without the HUD but FFS I need to track my information. They said the problem would be fixed some time today but I wil have to wait and see. This may be yet another reason for me to get my monies over to FTP. Considering moving some of my roll and playing rush TBH.

We have a winner.

Like Btimm told me before fuck getting down about a stupid game. Look at this kid. Pure fucking joy. I guess the reason I get down is because I want nothing more than to succeed and provide him with the best life imaginable.

Taking tonight off for a party and than no partying again till the 15th in honor of my Bday on the 13th. Happy bday to Dodgy as well (14th).

Also in regards to Btimms post I am not doing money because I cant afford it period. And TBH public humilation is more inspiring. I will not fail anyways.

35k hand challenge

Look if I want to amount to anything as a poker player I need to buckle down and put in some fucking hands. May has started off, whatever. The fact remains I am a winning poker player. Over a huge sample I am a proven winner at 100NL. Granted my ultimate goal is to call myself a winner at 400NL before 2010 is over and book multiple $10k months. In order to reach this goal I have to play some hands and not make excuses. Therefore I see the need for a good old challenge. Now I cant make some prop bet of paying monies to anyone but I can humiliate myself publicly.

I am not quite sure of just what I am willing to do if I fail but I will take suggestions and go from there.

I am back to 4 tables and will stick with that for the month of May. I am not going to check any results till May 16th either. If the roll is right I will be playing the 200NL games at night from that point on. I currently have played 2130 hands which means I have 33k to go with 27 days left in the month. I intend to give some regular updates on my progress.

Let the games begin!

BBJ!

WOOOOOOOOOT!!!! Could not have came at a better time. I thought I was 5 tabling but then realized I was actually at a sixth table which I was quitting. It appears AP payed me for 5 so I am checking on # 6 as I type. Anyways been playing solid and working on some trouble spots. Also been doing alot of mental work away from the tables which I believe to be a major help. The guy who hit the BBJ made 96k and is a reg whom I believe to be breakeven at best. Congrats to him!!!!

This hand made me proud today.

  • cA dA
2 folds, CO raises to $3.50, 1 fold, SB raises to $11.50, Hero calls $10.50, CO calls $8

I decide to lay in the weeds because I just think my cold 4bet gets a ton of credit.
  • Flop ($34.50, 3 players)
  • h9 s3 hQ
SB bets $24.50, Hero calls $24.50, CO calls $24.50

Standard flat to continue to under rep my hand.
  • Turn ($108, 3 players)
  • dQ
SB bets $108, Hero folds, CO calls $72.30

This is a spot where I would cry and click call knowing I was beat. Instead I took my time thought the hand through and made the correct fold. Seems standard I know but something I was quite pleased with.

Tres mas

Figure I will try and post a few hands of interest every morning.

Hand 1: The old XF?

$0.50/$1 No Limit Holdem • 5 Players

Generated by weaktight.com.

UTG$225.50
CO$141
BTN$195.20
SB$132.85
Hero$121
  • Pre-Flop ($1.50, 5 players)Hero is BB
  • hQ cA
1 fold, CO raises to $3.50, 2 folds, Hero calls $2.50

Villain is a mas multi tabler playing 23/19 and folds to 3bets a ton. I opt to flat because of that. Thoughts?
  • Flop ($7.50, 2 players)
  • c8 c9 d6
Hero checks, CO bets $5.50, Hero folds

Villain cbets a ton too. I think a XR is decent here but I always level myself in these spots thinking he shouldnt cbet here unless he has a hand because I wouldnt often. Should I just man up and XR?
  • Final Pot: $13
  • CO wins $12.15 (net +$3.15)
  • Hero lost $3.50

Hand 2: Bad fold?

  • cA cK
UTG raises to $3.50, CO raises to $6, 1 fold, Hero calls $5.50, 1 fold, UTG calls $2.50

Complete unknown min 3bets which is down right scary imo. Not sure I can do anything but flat.
  • Flop ($19, 3 players)
  • d8 sK h4
Hero checks, UTG checks, CO bets $19, Hero calls $19, UTG folds

Not many better flops for my hand.
  • Turn ($57, 2 players)
  • dT
Hero checks, CO bets $57, Hero folds

I know this looks really tight but given his preflop action I think this is the right play. Flame away.
  • Final Pot: $114
  • CO wins $110.65 (net +$28.65)
  • Hero lost $25
  • UTG lost $6

Hand 3: Call down?

  • Flop ($11.50, 2 players)
  • hJ sK d7
UTG bets $11.50, Hero calls $11.50

Easy call
  • Turn ($34.50, 2 players)
  • s9
UTG bets $34.50, Hero calls $34.50

Here QT gets there but he can still be monkey betting with worse Kx or random BS.
  • River ($103.50, 2 players)
  • s3
UTG bets $67.64, Hero calls $49

At this point seems like an easy call.

Poker blog

Enough! I am going to start posting hands on here every day. Old school style. My thoughts in between the lines. 5 hands should be more than enough. I will number them so it will be easy to leave feedback if you so choose. Thanks yall.

1: Should I do something different?

UTG$76.80
UTG+1$77.90
Hero$119.20
BTN$35.30
SB$18.30
BB$107.45
  • Pre-Flop ($1.50, 6 players)Hero is CO
  • cK cQ
UTG raises to $3, UTG+1 calls $3, Hero calls $3, 3 folds

Both guys are 30+/17+ and I feel like I can flat pre quite easily.
  • Flop ($10.50, 3 players)
  • sK dJ hT
UTG bets $4, UTG+1 raises to $12, Hero folds, UTG calls $8

TP+OESD vs a bet and a raise just doesnt feel great. I feel like calling is OK but given stacks and the combos of better hands I opt for a fold. Anything else I can do?
  • Turn ($34.50, 2 players)
  • c5
UTG checks, UTG+1 checks
  • River ($34.50, 2 players)
  • c4
UTG checks, UTG+1 checks

2: Pure sexiness.

CO$270.30
BTN$212.75

3 folds, BTN calls $1, Hero raises to $5, 1 fold, BTN calls $4
  • Flop ($11, 2 players)
  • c9 sK h9
Hero checks, BTN bets $11, Hero calls $11

I flop the stone cold nuts and villain is a spew tard.
  • Turn ($33, 2 players)
  • sJ
Hero checks, BTN bets $21, Hero calls $21
  • River ($75, 2 players)
  • h3
Hero checks, BTN bets $55, Hero goes all-in $73.90, BTN folds

He snap folded!
  • Final Pot: $203.90
  • Hero wins $200.90 (net +$90)
  • BTN lost $92

3: Fold? WTF!

$0.50/$1 No Limit Holdem • 5 Players

CO$100
Hero$169.15
SB$312.52
BB$201.65
  • Pre-Flop ($1.50, 5 players)Hero is BTN
  • dQ cK
1 fold, CO raises to $3, Hero calls $3, 1 fold, BB calls $2

Dude has been 4betting a bit but plays terrible in single raised pots therefore flat.

  • Flop ($9.50, 3 players)
  • dK d6 sK
BB checks, CO checks, Hero bets $6, BB calls $6, CO folds

Easy value bet.
  • Turn ($21.50, 2 players)
  • cJ
BB checks, Hero checks

In hindsight this should be a bet but I decided villain likely has a PP which is done if I bet and I would be a bit lost if XR as well. If I bet and get XR small how do we continue? If he XC again we are betting river right?
  • River ($21.50, 2 players)
  • d8
BB bets $11.75, Hero folds

I had a note that this clown VB small and 1/2P seems just that size. I dont think he ever bets 77-TT here which means he is boated or flushed imo. Thoughts?
  • Final Pot: $33.25
  • BB wins $32.20 (net +$11.45)
  • Hero lost $9
  • CO lost $3
