I miss my pops!

What a crazy world it is. Everything seems so circular. Around and around I go with my weight and alcohol. A huge portion of what I wrote about one year ago came to fruition. One being the peaceful passing of my father. Without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever been through in life. Miss my dad more than I realize. Thinking about him always brings me to tears.

Passed my grade 3 in april, bought my dads spot in the country and my boy is absolutely crushing life. Overall things are pretty sweet minus missing the fuck out of my dad. Finally making a trip to a foreign land (Mexico) in August. Hopefully my next trip will be to visit Dodgy and his baby. That is all for now.

Weight 245lbs, beard 10 months.

LIFE AT 34

WOW! Just spent a few minutes reading through my many blogs. Read a few from the origin of this whole thing and cannot believe how long ago this journey began and where I was then compared to now. In regards to some things I have completely evolved and others I am still stuck in the same rut.

Regardless, here I am am 17 days from my 34th birthday and headed in the right direction. The pursuit of a career which will allow me to support my wife and son has finally become a reality. Eating healthy and losing wight is still a battle though I find myself 15lbs lighter then my heaviest weight posted I believe at 240lbs.

Along time ago I stated what I wanted from my 26th year on earth and little of that became reality. Well here I am headed into my 34th year and about to try again. First and foremost I want my Dad to be alive and gaining health and strength everyday. If cancer were to overtake him I want my Dad to pass peacefully and know that my brother and I will support one another and continue his legacy.  This time next year I would like to be a grade 1 operator who is past the probationary period and on his way to grade 3. I would like my son to be enjoying school and have several high quality friends whom he enjoys spending time with. I would like my wife to be healthy, fit and loving her life. If her current career isn't the answer, may she find one which suits her.

The Rafalos need a home we can call our own. I want something with land and close to town. I will end my rant there though I will return.

PLOing on!

So I was surfing Deuces Cracked the other day and watched a quick PLO clip. The person playing had a huge roll on Bovada and it got me thinking about PLO. I decided to sit and play and I am fucking hooked. Its like 2007 all over again. 90/30 droolers are everywhere I love it. I actually enjoy playing poker again.

The diet and excercise has been going strong for the past two weeks and I hit the gym today to kick off week three. Down to 245lbs and feeling good. Lifting weights in a circuit workout to keep my heart rate up and burn calories. Also been swimming, biking or balling on non gym days. Had 3 22oz beers over that time and a few glasses of vino on 5 year wedding anniversary.

Where has the time gone? Just yesterday I was writing on this blog about being 30 and here I am 33. Crazy ass shit. If anyone reads this and wants to talk PLO please please please get at me.

Last but not least I have an interview with a water district tomorrow which may just lead to my 1st payed job in the field. I cannot wait to put the shitty casino life behind me and start smelling the poop water.

Weight 245lbs, Bank roll, $762.5. My roll has been riding a roller coaster at PLO plus I dumped $35 on the Cup final. Had Germany but they had to win in regulation.

Positive Vibrations

Was reading a blog the other day and realized just how good it is to get on here and ramble about things. Where we at? 250lbs bank roll is $730. I nailed my degree in wastewater operations and am attracting the perfect job for my family and I as I write. Played some live poker last night and donked off a big stack though I managed to get even by the end of the night. Live poker is very slow and when you go card dead it can be quite frustrating. I made a move in a straddled pot with J6s from MP and picked 4 calls. UTG checks dark and the flop comes Kxx two of my suit. I make a 1/4 pot cbet and get X-raised by UTG. I shipped over his XR and he went into the tank. He made the correct though debatable call finally with a K6 and I bricked off. The other fun hand I played I opened w87o and got 4 calls again. Flop comes 778 and I cbet and get one call. Lucky for me there was a FD and villain called turn and flushed on river and I got payed.

In other news my old friend Anrew Rennhack spiked a WSOP bracelet. Congrats!!!!! Pretty sure his blog is on my roll on the right. In major news I have booked a trip to Vegas for October and this is the motivator. I was 215lbs last time I was in Vegas and I thought I was fat. Now I am 250lbs. It is time to get after it. I will keep this rolling weekly. 3-5lbs a week is completely doable for the next 2 months. 8 times 4 =32. I could be down to 218 or the 220 range come September. See you all next week or sooner.

Lastly I am off to grind some live 1/3NL again tonight and win a free car at the local casino. Ship it!!!!

Twenty Fourteen is anyone with me?

Whats new? Not enough! It has been ages since I dropped an update and tbh I want to get back into writing shit down and tracking my progress. The standard I drink too much, need to lose weight etc etc is still happening. Not going to get to long winded but definitely looking to take back my life(health) this year. Will begin  my final semester at the local junior college next week  in order to get certified in wastewater treatment and get myself a good career going for my family and I. Waiting to hear back from a treatment plant after making top 5 in the hiring process. It has been 4 weeks and the wait is killing me.

My life in general is pretty sweet. Live in Nor Cal with the wife and kid still. Moved into a nice 3/2 which is nice and roomy but not on the preferred side of town. Still dealing cards and trying to get  a roll going on bovada so i can play a few nights a week and scoop up some vacation/investment money.

For tracking purpose I am going to state my weight and bank roll after each blog. Wish me luck!

250lbs this AM
$155.33 mind you this started as a $20 bonus.

It has been a bit.

Things are going awesome! Have my eye on a new career in wastewater and am working on obtaining an entry level job. This will be a job which has potential for growth and should keep me employed until retirement. Think once I get rolling in the new career I might play some live cards on occasion for fun and profit. I have been chanting for all of 2013 and it feels great. Nichiren Buddhism is the practice. Watched a documentary called Hungry for Change recently and have been eating right and alcohol free for the last 14 days. Dropped 10 lbs and am feeling great.

Just thought I would drop a quick blog update given I know I enjoy reading others. Hope all my old poker buds are doing awesome and I look forward to catching up with you all soon. Maybe a Vegas reunion WSOP 2014?
